Saving Star: Products & Services

Saving Star offers ecoupons that can be conveniently linked to your store loyalty cards via SavingStar.com!  You can click here to watch a 30 second video that demonstrates how it works!  After linking your coupon to your loyalty card(s), be sure to actually use your loyalty card at the applicable store when you are paying for your items. Your Saving Star money is automatically added to your Saving Star account within 2-22 days.  They will e-mail you when your savings post.  Once your savings does post, you can feel free to pick your payout methods, once you have reached $5. Currently, Saving Star offers a couple of donations that you can use your savings to fund, or you can receive a PayPal payment, direct deposit to your bank account, or get an Amazon.com Gift Card.

Saving Star ecoupons will load to all of your registered cards. When you buy the qualifying product(s) at any of the stores, Saving Star rewards you for your purchase.  Albertsons Market, Farm Fresh, Festival Foods, Hannaford, Hy-Vee, King Kullen, Raley’s, Redner’s, Roche Bros., Shoppers, Stater Bros., and Sweetbay all are participating retailers in the Saving Star program.

Saving Star ecoupons are accepted even if you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way. Generally, manufacturers state that it is against their policies for shoppers to redeem more than one manufacturer’s coupon for the same purchase. Using in-store coupons in combination with Saving Star ecoupons presents no issue, however.  You may register for both the Upromise and Saving Star, including registering your same store loyalty cards in each service. However, you may only activate a particular ecoupon for one service during a single promotion period.
Saving Star: Company Background

Saving Star, a fully digital, grocery ecoupon service, is based in Waltham, Massachusetts.  The service is available for free on the internet as well as on iPhone and Android mobile apps and provides coupons nationally within the United States.  There is never anything to clip or print with Saving Star.  Providing exclusive ecoupons redeemable at over 24,000 grocery and drug stores throughout the country, SavingStar’s ecoupons are linked to customers’ loyalty cards and offer a more convenient and eco-friendly way to save on groceries than paper coupons. Saving Star automatically adds the value of each ecoupon redeemed into users' SavingStar accounts, enabling them to pick their payout from cash to gift cards to charity donations.

Prior to founding SavingStar, CEO David Rochon and President Michael Libenson built the grocery segment for Upromise.com enabling ecoupons for its 13 million members who are working to save for college. Saving Star’s founding team spun off from Upromise in 2010 and the company now also powers Upromise’s Grocery ecoupons.

Saving Star: Customer Feedback & Reviews

Reviewopedia.com reports that, "SavingStar.com is putting a unique twist on coupon grocery shopping in the digital age. The idea is to consolidate the source of coupons and allow shoppers easy access to offers without having to physically print out and carry around paper coupons.  The company has been growing rapidly, quickly reaching over 1 million registered users and partnering with over 100 retail chains and countless brands to offer their users savings and a wide variety of shopping locations.  The technology behind SavingStar.com is based on the founders ecoupon work at Upromise.com. First off and most importantly the service is free to use, all you have to do is log on to the site and create a profile.

It is important to note that your discounts will not show up instantly at the checkout counter or be visible on your receipt. Instead all your savings will be accumulated in your Saving Star account. This can take anywhere from 2-30 days.

If you’re someone who consistently uses coupons to save money at the grocery or drug store then this is definitely a service you can try out. There’s some setup involved in the beginning but once all your loyalty cards (i.e. CVS card) are registered the coupons link directly to those cards so you can save directly at the store with no paper coupons to worry about.

You can also use their iPhone/Android app to activate ecoupons while you’re at the star which is helpful in case you’ve forgotten to do so ahead of time or have forgotten which coupons you’ve already selected.".

Onefrugalmomma.com reports that, “SavingStar provides another way to save by loading digital ecoupons directly to your store loyalty cards to save you money on everyday grocery and healthcare items including diapers, paper towels and yogurt. It currently works at nearly 100 retailers nationwide – including Rite Aid and CVS!  This is a great way to save money without trying too hard!
